I’ve been obsessed with Angie and Talon from the moment I met them (In fact, if you’ve been following me for awhile, I’m sure you’ve seen me talk about them many times before!). They are seriously the sweetest couple who are so in love with each other it fills me up every time I shoot with them. Their most recent shoot was to capture the littlest addition to their family, baby Veda. Getting to capture growing families is so fulfilling, and baby photos are some of my favorite!
It’s hard not to be completely head over heels with every photo I shoot of Angie and Talon. I’m obsessed with their dogs, the love they have for each other is obvious, and now sweet little Veda just rounds out the family so beautifully. This session was so magical.
As I was shooting Veda’s baby photos, Angie opened up to me about how she was sensitive about her post-baby body. To be honest, it’s something I hear a lot from new moms. So many women grapple with their changing bodies, which is to be expected. Women’s bodies are incredible, and carrying a baby just proves it. The fact that we can create life in a matter of months while providing everything we need to sustain that baby’s life for a period of time afterwards is incredible. We shouldn’t expect our bodies to bounce back immediately, yet we do.
Angie gave me the okay to talk about her story, and as I’ve chatted with other women about their experiences, I’ve heard so many women say the same thing. One friend told me once her son was a toddler, though, she looked back at those photos and recognized how much she was glowing. In fact, she explained it like this: “I see now how beautiful I was. I was embarrassed at the time, but those feelings went away and I see how much joy radiated through me.”
I look at these photos and I don’t see a woman concerned about her body. I see a woman who is beaming with life, with happiness, with a distinct kind of beauty motherhood brings.
Let’s start small. I still have a few family mini sessions left for August! You’ll want the prints. You’ll want the memories. And you’ll want to look back before long to remember just how amazing your body truly is.
Book with me here and let’s celebrate you and your growing family!
(Don’t forget to bring the pups!)
