I have a little bit of exciting news to share! Covid showed me how I could re-imagine Kelsey Kimberlin Photography in a way that I’m finding extremely fulfilling, and the more I’ve thought about it, the more I cannot wait to share the news. Starting immediately, I’m shifting my focus toward to two specific things: family and boudoir sessions.
If you know me, you know that boudoir has long been a passion of mine. There are so many reasons why it’s become one of my favorite things to shoot.
So often, the first time a woman walks through the door, she’s excited, a little apprehensive, and so nervous. Typically, it’s a process trying to get a woman comfortable, but that’s part of what I adore about it. We chat over a little champaign while she gets her hair and makeup done. We talk about what it’s like to be a woman: the ups, the downs. We discuss things she loves about her body, the things she’s insecure about, and I coach her on how to how she’ll pose, how to get comfortable, and what to expect. I prep her for how amazing it’s going to be for her to see herself in a different light.
And ladies, let me tell you. I swear, every time a woman sees what her hair and makeup looks like, she’s blown away. When we’re able to take her natural beauty and show her what everyone else sees, I see the confidence grow immediately. From there, I’m just showing her how gorgeous she is. She is always gorgeous. And the entire experience is so validating and empowering as these women see themselves in this light. This is what I love the most.
The first time I shot boudoir for my friend Jessi, she had some nervousness, too. While she’s incredibly self-confident, she was also a newly single mom with young kids at home—s0 yes, even this stunning woman needed a confidence booster.
Before I go on, I want you to know that Jessi is the stylist and make up artist I work with for boudoir. So any time you book with me, you book with her, too. She knows exactly what you’re going through.
Over the course of our friendship, she’s booked four total boudoir sessions with me. The thing I’ve loved the most is watching her embrace and celebrate her body. It’s like every time she books another session, she’s discovered a whole new sensual side of herself. We’re both in awe.
This may sound weird to you since we’re talking about boudoir, but I swear to you: my goal is to create images you’ll be proud to share with your daughter someday. I believe as women, we need to embrace who we are and be proud of our bodies. These photos shouldn’t just be for your spouse or your significant other. They should help you own who you are, remind you of how powerful and alluring you are, and help you recognize the beauty within you.
I’ve just opened dates for mini boudoir sessions and I cannot wait to empower you. You’ll get hair and makeup with Jessi followed by a private shoot in my downtown Lawrence studio, plus 20 high-resolution edited images and a 6×6 linen Heirloom photo album as a keepsake. Space is limited, so book fast!
